Duties and Responsibilities:
Acupuncture
and Oriental medicine (AOM) is an ancient and empirical system of medicine
based on the concept of qi (pronounced “chee”), which is usually translated as
energy. Oriental medicine includes the practice of Chinese herbology in addition
to acupuncture. AOM treatments identify a pattern of energetic imbalance within
a patient and redress that disharmony in a variety of ways.
Average Salary: $30,000 - $150,000
Educational Requirements:
Comprehensive training in
traditional differential diagnosis and proper treatment methods requires that a
Diplomate of Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM) completes three to four academic years
of education at the master’s degree level in an Oriental Medicine Program
accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental
Medicine (ACAOM).
